Paid camp hosting via federal concessionaires

Open for application now

Works
Full season, varying by campground elevation and region
Apply
Year round for waitlists; season openings posted as they arise. RRM is recruiting for its 2026 season.
Who hires
American Land & Leisure — self-described largest private concessionaire in the US, contracts with USDA Forest Service, PG&E and California State Parks; its own employment page lists operations in six states (WA, OR, CA, UT, CO, MI). Recreation Resource Management of America — five states (AZ, CO, ID, MT, NM), mainly May through October. California Land Management and Vista Recreation hold similar contracts.
Shape
Hourly wage plus a site. Seasonal employment, not volunteering. Must bring an RV or camper trailer; at least one operator excludes tents and soft-sided pop-ups.

What it pays, and who said so

$14-25/hr advertised range for Forest Service campground host roles, median reported around $16.80/hr

Job aggregator ZipRecruiter aggregator data, September 2026

20-40 paid hours per week plus a free site for the season

First-hand, dated California Land Management district manager posting

One listing offered septic hookup only, no other on-site utilities, showers at a separate recreation area

Employer-listed concessionaire listing via ZipRecruiter

The key distinction on the whole site: the same Forest Service campground may be a paid concessionaire job or an unpaid agency volunteer post depending on who holds the operating contract. Neither listing mentions the other route exists.

What this listing doesn't tell you.

  • Aggregator pay ranges are not employer-confirmed
  • Site hookups vary by campground and are often unstated
  • Private campground hosting (KOA, ELS, Sun Outdoors) not yet researched
