What we know
The Service posts resident RV volunteer positions refuge by refuge, and publishes terms more precisely than almost any state program. Confirmed current examples: Lake Woodruff in Florida offers concrete full-hookup pads with 30/50 amp and shared laundry for 24 hours per week per person. Savannah Coastal Refuges in Georgia offers two paved pads with communal laundry for 24 hours a week, three-month minimum and six-month maximum. Mississippi Sandhill Crane asks 30 hours from an individual or 24 hours per person from a couple. Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma asks at least 32 hours including both weekend days and reimburses the site, propane, a refuge vehicle and laundry access.
Pay, in more detail
Cash is zero, but the in-kind package is often richer than a state site — propane, vehicle use and laundry appear regularly. Federal volunteers are also covered by federal workers compensation and the Federal Tort Claims Act.
