What we know
Fifty separate programs with fifty sets of rules. We have documented 40. Applications go to the individual park or a state volunteer office, rarely a central board, which is why these are close to invisible. Alaska is the only state found that includes any cash, in the form of a small subsistence payment.
Pay, in more detail
The hours basis is the thing to ask about. Texas counts per site, South Dakota counts per person, and for a couple that is the difference between 24 and 48 hours for the same campsite.
